In the 180 + songs now uploaded on Songs and Everlasting Joy, I have noticed that the ones that are not well known don't get as many views. And, it does make sense. People go for what is familiar. But, I hope that is not the case for this one! I hope many people listen to its gorgeous lyrics and melody. This was a request, would you believe, two years and eight months ago. And, what a magnificent request it is. With its deep and meaningful lyrics, this hymn was written in the 1940s by Grace Reese Adkins. When we see the face of Jesus on that day - and, what a day it will be, we will never say, "Oh dear, I gave too much for Him. I shouldn't have done that." No. We will say, "I wish I had Given Him More. More, so much more." I pray you enjoy this beautiful hymn that I am now blessed to know.
God bless all the listeners of Songs and Everlasting Joy. We are now approaching 25,000 subscribers, which blows my mind. May the music bring glory to God and God alone.
I'll Wish I Had Given Him More
By and by when I look on His face,
Beautiful face, thorn-shadowed face;
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more
More, so much more —
More of my love than I e’er gave before.
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
By and by when He holds out His hand,
Welcoming hands, nail riven hands;
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
More of my love than I e’er gave before,
By and by when He holds out His hands,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
In the light of that heavenly place,
Light from His face, beautiful face;
In the light of that heavenly place,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
More, so much more,
Treasures unbounded for Him I adore,
By and by when I look on His face,
I’ll wish I had given Him more.
