Darryl Cuzzubbo, Managing Director and CEO of Arafura Rare Earths (ASX: ARU), updates Mining Network on the Nolans project in Australia’s Northern Territory as the company moves from final investment decision into construction. Since the March interview, Arafura has completed FEED, declared itself fully funded, added three offtakes, two of them priced off an independent seaborne NdPr index, The company is set to break ground within weeks.
The discussion covers why ore-to-oxide is different from most rare earth projects, the NdPr price floor set by the US and Japan, first-quartile costs supported by phosphoric acid by-product credits, Hatch as EPCM, a 37-month build and two-year ramp-up to 4,440 tonnes a year of NdPr oxide, completion support around the debt package, and why Cuzzubbo sees a valuation gap versus Mountain Pass and Lynas. He also walks through Western supply options, EV and robotics demand, the China “flood the market” risk, and the next 12 months of construction milestones.
