Bacon’s Rebellion | Bacon’s Castle

Bacons rebellion was the first real Civil War of what would become the United States. An uprising of citizens against its own government. This uprising however was at one point seen as the first step towards revolution. Though today it is no longer viewed that way. So ponder this question, when citizens rise against the status quo of government be it English rule, colonial rule, or federal rule, how does history have so many names for the same thing, rebellion? In today’s video I take you to a home in Surry County Virginia known as Bacons castle. This location was named that way for the way it was fortified during the uprising. For 3 months this home was captured and in the hands of rebellious leaders of the Jamestown Settlement. History views this as a rebellion for greed, the subsequent rebellion based on taxation without representation was called An American Revolution and the final and most ultimate rebellion of all, it’s called an American Civil War. Sit back and enjoy this video and ponder why rebellion has so many names and viewed so differently. #jamestown, #colony, #americanhistory , #bacon #baconsrebellion #baconscastle Come back for more and subscribe.
