I Live in My Truck in China. Tonight, I Finally Got a Hotel Room.

Hi, I'm Paul, a truck driver from China. I've been living and working in my little truck for over two years. Most nights, I sleep curled up across the two seats, and I cook my own meals on the roadside whenever I can to save money. Today started like any other day. I woke up early to charge my truck while electricity was cheap, then managed to get one of the best delivery orders I've had in the past six months. I drove 320 kilometers, trying to save as much as possible on tolls and charging along the way. After work, I stopped at a supermarket to buy some vegetables and eggs for dinner. Some of you have been encouraging me to eat healthier, so tonight I decided to try something different from my usual instant noodles. While eating dinner beside my truck, I read some of your comments. One of them reminded me that I hadn't slept in a real bed for about six months. So I decided to do something I rarely do. I treated myself to a hotel room for just $8.50. After months of sleeping curled up in my truck, being able to stretch my legs out on a real bed felt amazing.
