Meghan & Schuyler eloped in Iceland under the August 12, 2026 total solar eclipse, from the Snæfellsnes Peninsula to the highlands of Landmannalaugar. It was the first total eclipse to cross Iceland in over 70 years and the last one there for about 170 more.
Almost two years before the eclipse, Meghan and Schuyler decided to get married under it. They didn’t expect the weather to turn. On eclipse day, a temperature inversion built a wall of clouds over Snæfellsnes, and the rain and wind came in hard. Then totality hit. The wind stopped, the rain stopped, and everything went dark and silent. It was one of the most dramatic elopements I’ve ever filmed.
Their story continued among the colorful rhyolite mountains of Landmannalaugar, in Iceland’s highlands.
This is their Iceland eclipse elopement film: a once-in-a-lifetime wedding day under a total solar eclipse.
