TURN IT UP! www.themondaylife.org Lyrics: It all started with a win, in 1910 Who would have thought how many times we could do it again They questioned our success, our fight til the end but '24 was 26-0, that only begins a Legacy. The first of the mix You can say its 5 but we all know its 6 1957. Wilt playin tricks Triple-overtime had us crowned champions Jump to '82, a kid named Mike Must have been his shoes that made him jump so high We all knew his skills, best player in mind but who would have thought he'd be the best of all time? And I still watch clips of the '82 ship Mike gets the ball, 18 ticks Heart goes thump-thump cuz he knows he can't miss Shoots for the win....swish. (Announcer: 1982 National Championship) Now we jump to '93, I was three years old The Legacy was only growing, or so I was told The Tar Heels had won 3, but 3 was getting old and the public only bought what the Fab Five sold I was too young for tv, but I could feel the air, the buzz, this was the battle of the year They brought Weber, and Howard, both household names but Dean Smith brought that determination to the game It was David vs. Goliath, they fought with the rock And they torched those nets back and forth, jump shots 20 ticks left, up 2, need a stop We force them to call a timeout...HAH (Announcer: 1993 National Championship) We might have had a few ups and downs 12 years gone by til we touched the crown but you could tell, the heart never left the crowd and every team just built further off the ground So we loved '05 when we hear the news, Raymond Feltons coming back, and he's bringing the crew, team stacked, but I think every Tar Heel knew Illinois would bring the fight, they were not ready to lose. So they laced up, they faced up, they battled it out We fought hard but they fought back, no matter amount Not til the clock struck did we finally shout, that N-C-U. (Announcer: 2005 National Championship) 4 years passed by, in the blink of an eye '09 brought back a team that was thinkin that my first year at Carolina should be hung in the sky of the Dean Dome roof, already covered in pride So Tyler brought the heart, Lawson the speed Wayne made it rain, make it Wayne the shirts read There was Deon, and Ed, servin blocks when need be Danny Green always knew how to get the crowd on their feet Yes, the '09 team stood up in the clouds They marched through march, they were marchin loud That pump, that heartbeat battle sound Beat Michigan State in the finals by 17...wow. (Announcer: 2009 National Championship) Now we have that talent, we got that rhythm, we even have a Henson Air Defense System Reggie sinkin 3s, got dunks to go with them If Z is out in front, we know Kendall will hit him Unleash the beast, his name: Black Falcon Soarin through the lane, the D can not Doubt him Every other teammate can ball, now that's balance But we all know that winning is more than just talent That heart, that fight That gotta give it all every day every night That sweat, that blood, that drive, those tears, That never-even-think-about-a-loss-all-year That love for the game, given all is the same We will give up everything, even sacrifice our name... Just for the chance to be great, just for the chance to have fate say this team will make History...its what we make of it So we fight... to be the best we can be We fight... to leave legacies.
