The Delaware Turnpike connects the city of Wilmington and the Delaware Memorial Bridge with Maryland and points south. The Delaware Memorial Bridge is a twin-span suspension bridge that carries I-295 across the Delaware River near the city of Wilmington. The bridge's are nearly identical: the first opening in 1951 with the second opening in 1968. Both bridges have main spans of 2,150 ft.
