UNBELIEVABLE!! Seafood Feast in Oman🔥 | Sur Dhow Factory 🚢🇴🇲

Hello Makkalea! ♥️🙏 Our Oman road trip continues! 🇴🇲❤️ After exploring Sink hole and pebble beach in the previous vlog, today we headed towards Sur, one of the most fascinating coastal cities in Oman. Sur is a historic port city on Oman’s northeastern coast, famous for its maritime heritage, traditional dhow boats, fishing culture and beautiful coastline. And this day turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our Oman trip. One thing I really wanted to take home from Oman was a traditional silver Khanjar as a souvenir. We visited a traditional shop and explored different styles of Omani Khanjars. These traditional curved daggers are an important part of Omani heritage and traditional dress, especially during ceremonies and special occasions. There are different types and styles, with variations in the blade, handle, sheath, silverwork and craftsmanship. The more intricate and heavily decorated pieces can take significant time and skill to make. After some serious bargaining, the final price they quoted us was around ₹35,000! 😱 And yes… I ended up buying one! After shopping, we headed towards the Sur Corniche and beach, where the traditional character of the city meets the Arabian Sea. The coastline offers beautiful views of the sea, fishing boats and the relaxed atmosphere of Sur. After spending time on the road, this was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy Oman’s coastal beauty. One of the biggest highlights of the day was visiting the traditional dhow factory in Sur. Sur has a long-standing connection with dhow building, and these traditional wooden boats played a major role in Oman’s maritime history. Dhows were historically used for fishing, trading and sailing across the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, connecting Oman with destinations across the region. What amazed me the most was seeing craftsmen continue to build these boats using traditional techniques. Standing inside the workshop and watching the craftsmen work with wood, tools and generations-old knowledge made it feel like stepping back in time. The most incredible part? The tradition of dhow building goes back centuries and continues even today. In a world where most things are mass-produced by machines, seeing a traditional craft survive for generations was genuinely astonishing. And honestly… after visiting a dhow factory and spending the entire day by the sea, how could I leave Sur without trying its seafood? 😂 We visited a well-known restaurant in Sur and ordered a proper Omani seafood feast: King Fish Fry Tuna Salad Omani Rice Naan Prawn Curry Mixed Seafood Soup The seafood tasted incredibly fresh, which is exactly what you would hope for in a historic fishing city like Sur. The king fish fry had a beautifully crisp exterior while the fish remained tender and juicy inside. The tuna salad was light and refreshing, while the prawn curry had a rich, spiced flavour that paired perfectly with the rice. The Omani rice brought everything together with its fragrant spices, and the mixed seafood soup was packed with the flavours of the sea. After a full day exploring Sur, this seafood feast was the perfect ending. 🇴🇲❤️ Day 2 of our Oman journey gave us a completely different perspective of the country — ancient maritime traditions, traditional craftsmanship, beautiful beaches, local shopping and incredibly fresh seafood.
