Explanation of the parts of the Surah🤍
Verses 1-3: Allah explains that those who reject faith and stop others from His path will lose all reward for their deeds. But believers who do good and accept the truth revealed to Muhammad ﷺ will have their bad deeds removed and their state improved. This is because disbelievers follow falsehood, while believers follow the truth from their Lord.
Verses 4-6: When war is necessary, believers are commanded to fight firmly, then either set captives free or accept ransom until the war ends. Allah could punish disbelievers directly, but He tests people through one another. Those who die in His cause will never lose their reward – He will guide them, fix their condition, and admit them to a Paradise He has already made known to them.
Verses 7-11: If believers support Allah’s religion, He will support them and make them stand firm. Disbelievers face misery because they hate what Allah revealed, so their deeds become worthless. Many nations before them were stronger, yet Allah destroyed them. Allah protects believers, but disbelievers have no protector.
Verses 12-15: Believers will enter gardens with flowing rivers. Disbelievers only enjoy this short life and eat like animals, and the Fire is their final home. Allah describes Paradise: rivers of pure water, milk, delicious wine, and purified honey, with every kind of fruit and forgiveness. The people of Fire will drink boiling water that tears their intestines.
Verses 16-19: Some hypocrites listen to the Prophet ﷺ but leave confused, asking what he just said. Their hearts are sealed, and they follow their own desires. But those who accept guidance get more guidance and become more mindful of Allah. The Hour may come suddenly – its signs are already here. So know that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for yourself and for believing men and women.
Verses 20-25: Believers sometimes asked why a chapter about fighting was not revealed. When it came, hypocrites looked terrified, like someone fainting at death. Obedience and good words would be better for them. If they turn away, they may spread corruption and cut family ties – such people are cursed and made deaf and blind. They should reflect on the Quran instead of having locked hearts.
Verses 26-31: Those who turn back after clear guidance are misled by Satan, who makes evil look beautiful and gives them false hopes. They secretly agree with those who hate the revelation. When angels take their souls, they strike their faces and backs because they followed what angered Allah and hated His pleasure. Allah tests believers so their true faith, patience, and effort become known.
Verses 32-38: Those who disbelieve, block others from Allah’s path, and oppose the Messenger after guidance has come will never harm Allah – their deeds are wasted. Believers must obey Allah and His Messenger and not ruin their own deeds. Those who die rejecting faith will not be forgiven. Do not be weak or call for peace while you are superior – Allah is with you. Worldly life is only play and amusement. If you believe and fear Allah, He will give you reward and will not ask for all your wealth. Whoever is stingy only harms himself. Allah is Self-Sufficient, and if you turn away, He will replace you with another people who will not be like you.
