This is "The Day" featuring the poignant poetry of Brian Corrigan and the brilliant composition of Mános Chatzidákis (Mános Hatzidakis), originally from the legendary song cycle "Reflections." After losing my voice 1.5 years ago, this atelierrehearsal documents my journey of structural vocal retraining and breath control. My vocal identity has shifted towards a deeper, heavier register, sometimes heavy to move... which I now explore through a slow, sustained legato flow rather than vocal fireworks, searching for the poetical dimension of the piece. The Historical Context: "Reflections" was composed by Hatzidakis during his exile in New York City. Twenty years later, the cycle was rearranged as "Antikatoprismi" (Αντικατοπτρισμοί) with new poetry by Nikos Gkatsos (Νίκος Γκάτσος) and Agathi Dimitrouka (Αγαθή Δημητρούκα). I fell in love with this musical monolith upon first hearing it in 1994, during my academic studies of Fine Art at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in the class of Prof. Rolf Lobeck "Neue Malerei + (Medien)" Back then, I dreamed of one day singing this song, playing guitar, capturing its depth. As a portraitist and visual artist, this contemporary art song (Éntechno / Έντεχνο) represents the "other side" of my creative stance—.
