The Appalachian backcountry does not forgive mistakes after sundown. On my first night shift as a park ranger, my supervisor handed me a laminated card with six rules printed on it. No explanation, no signature, and no answer when I asked who wrote them.
Three hikers had already gone missing on that stretch of trail. By sunrise I understood that the rules were not written to protect the park. They were written to protect whoever was still walking it.
This is a first person Creepypasta narration about an isolated ranger station, a night patrol that should have been routine, and six rules that must never be broken. Lower the lights, put your headphones on, and stay until the final rule.
If you enjoy ranger encounter stories, Appalachian folklore, and slow burn wilderness horror, subscribe and turn on notifications so you never miss an upload. Leave a comment telling me which rule you would have broken first.
