Special Assignment - Deadly Force, 02 February 2014

Trigger happy or self-defence? We look at the spate of protestors who have died at the hands of police over the last few weeks. Has our police service become militarized and too willing to use deadly force? Are our riot police units properly equipped, trained or manned to handle crowd control? Or are protests becoming more violent in nature, forcing police to fight fire with fire? As elections draw closer, with more service delivery protests expected in the coming months, we examine all these questions in tonight's documentary. DEADLY FORCE was produced by Adel van Niekerk and airs at 9:30pm on SABC 3.
