Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: An Extraordinary Life | 30 October, 2026

Remembered as the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was one of the most influential leaders in India's freedom struggle and the architect of the country's political integration. Born on 31 October 1875 in Nadiad, Gujarat, Patel's journey from a young student and accomplished barrister to a national leader is a remarkable story of determination, courage and leadership. This documentary traces his extraordinary life—from his early years in Gujarat and legal education in England to his association with Mahatma Gandhi and his leadership in the Kheda and Bardoli Satyagrahas. It explores his contribution to the freedom movement, his repeated imprisonments under British rule, and his emergence as a key leader of the Indian National Congress. Following independence in 1947, as India's first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, Patel undertook one of the most challenging tasks in the making of modern India: the integration of more than 560 princely states into the Indian Union. From a young barrister to the man who helped unite a nation, this is the story of a life dedicated to India's freedom, unity and national integrity.
