🎬 In this FilmSpeak video essay we discuss Kane Parsons' Backrooms movie and how we all live in the Backrooms. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE: https://youtube.com/filmspeak?sub_con... The Backrooms began as a single unsettling image before evolving into one of the internet’s defining modern horror myths. With Backrooms (2026), Kane Parsons brings that nightmare to the big screen, using its endless yellow hallways, found-footage imagery and distorted echoes of the 1990s to examine nostalgia, cultural stagnation and our need to map the past in hopes of controlling the present. In this video essay, we break down the deeper meaning of Kane Parsons’ Backrooms movie, including Clark and Mary’s relationship, the symbolism of the rooms, Pirate Clark and the film’s harrowing ending. We also examine how Parsons expanded his Kane Pixels YouTube series into a feature film starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve and Mark Duplass, why the Backrooms feel like memories we can’t quite place, and what the film says about a generation raised inside the deteriorating echoes of the past. Backrooms may follow people lost inside an impossible space, but its real horror is much closer to home: a culture so consumed by nostalgia that the past has become the only future it can imagine. #backrooms #kaneparsons #videoessay #backroomsmovie #a24 #movie #podcast #explained #endingexplained #breakdown Edited by @HaidarHasanayn 👾Join our Discord👾   / discord   Join this channel to get access to perks:    / @filmspeak   ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🎞 Chapters 🎞 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🎞 About Backrooms 🎞 Directed and co-scored by Kane Parsons (in his feature directorial debut) and written by Will Soodik, Backrooms is based on Parsons's web series, which was inspired by the "Backrooms" creepypasta. In the film, Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a furniture store owner, and his therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve) discover a dimension of seemingly endless liminal spaces accessed through the store's basement. Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell also star. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▶️ About FilmSpeak ◀️ Welcome to FilmSpeak hosted by Griffin Schiller, where the conversation continues after the credits.
