The complete tour of the L’Eroica historic circuit in the middle of Toscana’s southern hills. From dawn to dusk, 8 hours of non stop riding through amazing sceneries and beautiful vistas of the Tuscan countryside. A few disclaimers: 1) We had hours of awesome footage to share, so you will forgive me if I couldn’t bring myself to reduce this video to a ten minutes' short. It wouldn’t have been fair to its purpose, which is a journal to remember our small adventure. 2) Those of you with a trained hear, will often assume, by the sound of the engine, that the traction control is intervening on multiple occasions; believe me, it isn’t. I’ve experimented with a new external microphone location. This, especially when moving slowly, somehow resonated with the frequency of the engine and caused it to cut the sound at rapid and regular intervals. In reality all was well with the bike, but it came out as a horrible sound, nothing I can do about it now. I’ll mark a few sections here and there where the sound didn’t suck. The final quarter of the video, where the microphone failed completely, has music in the background, if that’s more up you alley. 3) Finally, speed. We went as fast as 95 Km/h off road, with and average of 60 Km/h but, we slowed right down when the scenery was too beautiful and needed to be appreciated in all its glory, and filmed. So most of the footage is at crawling pace, but this says more about our amateurish filming skills than it does about our riding prowess. With that said, the ride was long but easy, with only minor stretches that required a bit more concentration; and this is mostly because there are better suited bikes to this type of trail. With that said, to most of you this will feel like a long, boring video, if so please feel free to skip ahead, there are beautiful vistas that are worth checking out further down the video towards the end of the ride at sunset. For those of you that are contemplating undertaking the challenge, this video is worth watching in its entirety, as it shows snippets of pretty much the entire circuit, and should give you a decent idea when evaluating the best bike and gear to tackle L'Eroica. There were two of us with nearly identical gear: Honda X-ADV of course (Alessio in red), Rev’it Tornado 3 suit and Sand 3 gloves. Sidi Adventure 2 Goretex boots. I have a Shoei GT-Air II helmet and Alessio has an LS2 Challenger. The cameras were my Insta360 Go 2 mounted on my visor and Alessio’s GoPro Hero 5 Black mounted on the top of his helmet.
