Forestry mulching project in Northfield, Illinois. A fence line overgrown with buckthorn and brush, mulched on-site over two days to open the line back up. This video is day two. The buckthorn had grown in thick along the fence, the way it does when nobody gets ahead of it. It spreads a little further every season and shades out everything underneath. Fruit trees have since been planted on the ground that was cleared. Partway through, the video runs two views at once. The ground view and the view from inside the cab, so you can see the work from both sides as it happens. At the end, I walk the full line and show the day one and day two sections. We mulched everything on-site. No hauling. No burn piles. The natural mulch layer holds the soil in place and reduces erosion, and the cleared line is far easier to keep open going forward.
