KEY REFLECTIONS The Reward of Generosity: In the first reading (2 Kings 4:8-11, 14-16a), the Shunammite woman shows incredible hospitality to the prophet Elisha. Her selfless choice to provide him with a quiet resting place is rewarded with the ultimate gift: a son. This mirrors our Gospel message that whatever we give to the Lord will be returned to us abundantly. Prioritizing Christ: In the Gospel (Matthew 10:37-42), Jesus makes a challenging statement: we must love Him above all else, even our own families, and be willing to pick up our cross. It challenges us to reflect on where God truly ranks in our busy lives. The Value of Small Gestures: Despite the heavy "cost" of discipleship mentioned in the Gospel, Jesus reassures us that no act of love is too small. Even something as simple as offering "a cup of cold water" to someone in need is recognized and rewarded by God.
