The driving hook — "Jayati Vijayeshvari vishva-janani! Jayati parashaktir anamaye!" — returns twice across the song. A blazing verse names and salutes every one of the Navadurga by name in turn (Shailaputri, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Siddhidatri) alongside her two great demon-slayings — "jayati mahishasura- darpa-vibhettri" (victory to her who shattered Mahishasura's pride) and the destruction of Shumbha-Nishumbha and Chanda-Munda.
