Your green bean casserole tastes like nothing because you're cooking it the modern way. The church ladies who fed eighty people every Sunday knew something supermarkets made you forget. They started cooking two days before the supper and never wrote a single recipe down.
In this video you'll learn:
Why one woman's Thursday night pot fed half the town without anyone knowing
The cast iron temperature trick that makes fried chicken stay crispy for hours
Why overnight rest turns cheap ingredients into restaurant-quality dishes
The real reason modern mac and cheese tastes grainy (it's not the recipe)
My name is Andy Peterson. I'm sixty-eight years old and I've spent fifty-five years clearing out old farmhouses and piecing together what their kitchens knew. In November 1962, a woman named Dorothy May Folsom kept the kitchen list for Bethel Church on the backs of envelopes. Her notes taught me more about real cooking than any cookbook ever did.
Subscribe to preserve these disappearing kitchen traditions before they're lost forever.
What secret ingredient did your grandmother use in her church supper dish? Was it bacon grease, sour cream, or something she grew in her garden? Write the name of the woman in your family or town who made the best church supper dish you ever ate. The name that shows up most in the comments will become the subject of my next video.
