🚨Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza has provided updates on several major road projects being undertaken under the government’s Big Push programme.
The Minister explained that the government wants Ghanaian contractors to recruit more young engineers, surveyors and other professionals from the National Service programme so that experienced workers can transfer their skills and ensure technical expertise is retained in Ghana.
On the Tema–TOR Road, Agbodza said the project originally started without a detailed design and explained that government has directed the contractor to return to site and resume work on the 7.2-kilometre road, which has now been included among the Big Push projects.
The Minister also addressed the Dome–Kwabenya–Berekuso–Kitase road project, saying it is being undertaken because it is considered a national priority and not because of demonstrations. Contractors are expected to mobilise back to site and sustain construction.
He further warned people putting up new structures around the Dome Roundabout that they could lose their buildings without compensation if they construct within areas affected by the ongoing road dualisation project.
The video also features detailed footage of the Accra–Kumasi Expressway route at Adeiso in the Upper West Akim District, as well as the planned dualisation and expansion of the 73.6-kilometre Takoradi–Cape Coast Highway from Ituma to Shama Junction.
From Greater Accra to the Eastern and Western regions, the Big Push road programme continues to attract attention as major road projects move forward.
