Discovering Poznan, Poland: Old Town, Castles and Cathedral. Our Family Walk Through the City

Today we explored Poznań on foot with our family – a colorful, lively city full of history. We started in the Old Town, where the atmosphere immediately pulled us in: Stary Rynek, the bright townhouses, and the impressive Renaissance Poznań Town Hall standing proudly in the middle of the square. Walking further, we reached the massive Imperial Castle (Zamek Cesarski). Up close, it looks even more monumental, with strong German architectural lines that really stand out. Not far from it rises the Royal Castle (Zamek Królewski), located right in the heart of the Old Town. Crossing the river area, we arrived at Ostrów Tumski, the oldest part of Poznań. Here we saw the stunning Poznań Cathedral – Basilica of St. Peter and Paul, one of the oldest cathedrals in Poland. Its towers and heavy façade make a strong impression, especially when walking around it. On our way back to the center, we stopped by the baroque Fara Poznańska – one of the most beautiful churches in the country. Up close, its detailed façade looks incredibly grand and impressive. Poznań left us with a warm, colorful, and vibrant impression – a perfect city for a family walk and a short but meaningful stop on our journey.
