Symmetrical spinnaker hoist and drop with Deckchute

We are often asked if Deckchute works with a symmetric spinnaker. The short answer is yes! It works almost the same way as an asymmetrical. With an asymmetrical spinnaker you can stay in the cockpit. With a symmetrical the only time you leave the cockpit is when you mount and dismount the spinnaker pole. This video is about cruising, and shows you why we started Deckchute. The desire to be able to hoist, run and drop 200m2 spinnaker completely safe and without drama, - only the two of us. Normally you will unfurl the jib during the drop, to keep a clear view for the camera we don’t. Jibing with a symmetrical, you ease guy and pull tackline until load is on tackline, lower tip of poole to the deck. Jibe as asymmetrical, mount poole and guy on new tack, ease tackline, pull guy to bring tack corner on to pole.
