How reliable is the New Testament? Can we trust that what the biblical authors originally wrote has been faithfully preserved for nearly 2,000 years? In this lesson, we examine the reliability of the New Testament by looking at the evidence for its textual preservation and the trustworthiness of its authors. First, we explore *textual criticism* and how scholars can reconstruct ancient writings by comparing surviving manuscripts. We look at the number of New Testament manuscripts and the time gap between the original writings and the earliest copies, and compare this evidence with other ancient authors such as Pliny the Elder, Julius Caesar, and Plato. Then, we examine several reasons for trusting the New Testament authors, including their concern for truth, their claims of eyewitness testimony, the embarrassing details they recorded about themselves and the disciples, and the suffering they endured for their message. If you’ve ever wondered whether the New Testament we have today accurately reflects what was originally written—and whether we have good reasons to trust the people who wrote it—this lesson will help you understand the historical evidence behind the reliability of the New Testament. #NewTestament #Bible #BiblicalReliability #TextualCriticism #Christianity #ReadyToAnswer #BibleStudy
