Who's Visiting the Pier This Summer? | July 2026 Underwater Fish Recap

Summer brought plenty of activity beneath the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier! While this month was all about the baitfish, there were still some exciting visitors mixed in along the way. This month's highlights include: 🦈 Nurse sharks 🐟 Huge schools of baitfish 🐠 Blue runners on the hunt 🌈 The seasonal return of a pair of rainbow runners 🐡 A curious sharpnose puffer making several appearances 🦀 Arrow crabs and colorful fireworms stealing the spotlight 🐢 A sea turtle stopping by for a quick visit 🦅 An eagle ray gliding effortlessly through the scene 💛 A welcome appearance from a yellowtail snapper Why don't I label all of the baitfish? That's intentional! Many baitfish species can look remarkably similar underwater, especially when they're moving in large schools. Rather than make a guess, I prefer to leave them unlabeled unless I'm confident in the identification.
