We Took a Thrifting Road Trip… and THIS Happened ❤️

Did we fall in love on this road trip? 😂❤️ Well… maybe with a country singer, a vintage store, and some homemade praline pecan ice cream! Kim and I hit the road for St. Augustine, Florida to see Stephen Wilson Jr. in concert—but you know us, we can’t take a road trip without doing a little thrifting along the way. We made a few roadside stops along the way, including one of our favorite vintage and oddities shops — which just happens to have AMAZING homemade praline pecan ice cream. Honestly, that alone might be worth the drive. Once we got to St. Augustine, we wandered around historic Old Town, did plenty of window shopping and actually bought a few things RETAIL because they were on sale. Who even are we?! If you’ve watched this channel for a while, you know we’re usually Goodwill and thrift-store girls. Then it was off to see Steven Wilson Jr. at the outdoor amphitheater. I almost didn't go because I'm not a big country person boy was I glad I did. I am now a rabid fan. He was influenced by Soundgarden, Nirvana etc. as a 90's kid and that influence comes across in a big way. From what I can gather the use of D tuning and open chording is one of the techniques he uses to get his sound. The band itself is incredible, each in their own right but together its magic. I have never heard sounds like that coming from a steel guitar. Lots of moody distortion and the vibe surrounds you as a viewer. The concert was fabulous and the weather gave us one of those perfect Florida evenings. But the adventure wasn’t quite over… When we tried to Uber back to our hotel after the concert, the price had jumped to about THREE TIMES what we’d paid on the way there. Nope. 😂 Enter Lloyd — our trolley-driving angel! For $10, he took us about 12 miles back to our hotel in an open-air trolley. We rode across the Bridge of Lions and through historic downtown St. Augustine with all the city lights glowing around us. It turned into one of the most unexpected and magical parts of the entire trip. No big resale haul this time — just vintage treasures to look at, good music, good food, a beautiful city and one heck of a fun road trip.
