Guillaume Porraz: Eleven Backed Pieces from the Upper Paleolithic of Les Pres De Laure

Guillaume Porraz is an archaeologist and prehistorian at the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research). He specializes in the technical know-how associated with the creation and use of stone tools. Through his work, he explores the processes of adaptation and innovation that have been part of the history of hunter-gatherer societies since their origins, and he conducts excavations in the South-East of France and Southern Africa in partnership with a variety of universities and cultural institutions. Join us on 17th January for his talk “Eleven Backed Pieces from the Upper Paleolithic of Les Pres De Laure (France): Stylistic Considerations and Functional Solutions”, in which he will explore the lithic assemblage from Les Pres De Laure (Comps-sur-Artuby, Var, France), an open air site that was discovered in 2012.
