History of Engineering Old River: Phenomenon Explained

The Old River area is at the confluence of the Atchafalaya, Mississippi, and Red Rivers, and the constantly-changing landscape has caused governments and business interest to attempt to shape the river to suit their needs. However, Mother Nature plays the long game. This video explores the different methods the Federal and State governments of Louisiana have attempted to regulate the flow of water at Old River, leading to the construction of the Old River Control Structures in the late 1950's.
