What does it look like to be ambitious, want more from life, and still enjoy the process of creating it? Can you pursue meaningful goals, grow into the woman you're becoming, and experience success without constantly pushing yourself? For my birthday a couple weeks ago, My husband Jeff and I sat down by the beautiful Zêzere River in Tomar, Portugal, to reflect on the year that's been, the lessons I've learned, and what I'm taking into this next chapter. This past year has been a lesson in learning to live differently. For a long time, I've approached life with a very pedal-to-the-metal mentality: making things happen, pushing myself, and measuring progress through productivity and achievement. But I've learned from experience that this isn't sustainable. I want to do things differently and really focus on enjoying the process. We reflect on what it means to pursue your ambitions without constantly striving, how to work through self-doubt and overthinking, and how to let go of the urgency and self-imposed pressure that can make everything feel harder than it needs to. We also talk about: The first year of embodying Soft Power and what it's taught me about ambition. Unlearning the connection between productivity, achievement, and self-worth. Learning to follow through on your commitments without relying on motivation or your mood. Training for my first marathon and discovering what discomfort, uncertainty, and resistance can teach you. Finding my voice through writing, speaking, teaching, and singing. Letting go of doubt, overthinking, and the habit of questioning yourself. Allowing yourself to want what you want without judging whether it's too much. Creating a life that feels fulfilling while actually enjoying the process of getting there. I think there's something important here for women who have spent years being capable, driven, and accustomed to figuring things out, but are beginning to question whether the way they've learned to achieve is actually supporting the life they want. Because being ambitious doesn't have to mean constantly pushing. You can be committed to your growth, pursue what matters to you, and continue expanding your capacity without abandoning yourself in the process. That's what I'm continuing to explore through Soft Power: a different way to achieve, grow, and create a fulfilling life without making everything a struggle. I hope this conversation offers you something to reflect on as you consider what you want for your own next chapter. 💛 LET'S STAY CONNECTED 🦋 The Metamorphosis Letters on Substack A Strong Woman's Guide to Soft Power.
