Once known as the Yagurasawa Ōkan, this historic road connected Akasaka, Aoyama, Shibuya, Sangenjaya, and Futako-Tamagawa before extending into inland Kanagawa. For centuries, it has been a road of human connection. Today, people travel by car, bike, or train. In the Edo period, they walked, ate along the way, stayed at inns, and visited shrines and temples. The moment I started filming, the Emperor was departing.
