A bell tolled at first light and a shepherd pointed to a slope where rhododendron trunks climbed out of scree like a defiant secret. From that impossible ridge this film follows a single question outward — how do people, plants and beliefs survive at the edge of the world?
We trek from the prayer-flagged alleys of Namche Bazaar to the raw, wind-swept quiet of Everest Base Camp, where receding glaciers reveal wildflower meadows once tended by ancient shepherds. We trace the lacquered courtyards of Bhaktapur and Kathmandu Durbar Squares, step barefoot into the hush of Lumbini where Buddha was born, and grind through the high passes of the Annapurna Circuit. In Chitwan we move from canopy to riverbank tracking rhinos and jungle ghosts; in Upper Mustang we cross a red-rock desert that hides monasteries carved into cliffs; at Swayambhunath the monkeys keep watch over a city that still chants; and in Langtang we find forests that remember older, wilder winters.
This is more than a travel film — it is a search for the threads that bind mountain people to their land: stubborn trees, receding ice, roadside shrines, and the quiet rituals that make remote places feel like home. Expect remote monasteries, impossible landscapes, and small, human moments that will change how you imagine the high places.
Which of these secrets will stay with you after the climb?
