Destructive EF3 Tornado Hits Union City, Michigan - Mar. 6th, 2026

"A tornado rapidly touched down on the northwest side of Union Lake in northern Branch county and rapidly intensified as it moved along the northwest shore of the lake. Video footage indicated a multiple vortex tornado at its peak in the area of Prairie Rose Ln and Tuttle Rd with chunks of ice being observed pulled from the lake. Several homes and cottages were destroyed with debris left at the site or pushed and lofted to the northeast. Anchoring varied for many of the homes, with one home showing anchoring by bolts with proper spacing, but a fireplace still standing. A mobile home was picked up and thrown 100 yards with an occupant of the trailer suffering fatal injuries. Two other fatalities as well as at least a dozen injuries occurred in the area. The tornado did continue to the northeast away from the lake in a weaker state, causing damage in Union City before lifting near the county line." -NWS Northern Indiana #tornado #storm #michigan #compilation #disaster #unioncity
