Perth’s Railfest 2026!

Join me for an amazing day out experiencing railway history with heritage locomotives, ride on the steam train, and see some amazing model railway displays! What’s included: GM1 – 75 years of service! The GM1 was manufactured in 1951 by Clyde Engineering. The GM1 was an important diesel-electric locomotive that served on the Trans-Australia Railway line and later served on the Indian Pacific. The GM1 is now preserved at the Rail Heritage WA. GM1 celebrated its 75th birthday in 2026! Even though the GM1 didn’t start on this day, it was fantastic to see it in the flesh! Steam Train Ride Experience! Another locomotive I got to experience was the Leschenault Lady. Leschenault Lady is a historic Western Australian steam locomotive built in 1898. Leschenault Lady started life as G233 and was one of WA’s most prized heritage locomotives with a long history of hauling both passengers and goods. Heritage Locomotives on Display The Victorian Railways T class locomotive T369, AB1535 and the heritage WAGR H-class locomotives celebrating the rich railway heritage of Western Australia. Model Railway Heaven! There were tons of model railway layouts to look at, complete with detailed model trains from Australia, America, and Europe! Whether you’re into heritage railways, steam locomotives, diesel power or model trains, there’s something here for every railway enthusiast!
