This Gigabyte B550 Eagle WiFi6 (AMD AM4, Ryzen 3000/5000) was bought on eBay for $40, listed "for parts": good condition, no signs of life. The thermal camera found a regulator at 95°C, but replacing it did not fix the board. The real fault was a shorted Super I/O chip. In this repair: 🔍 The eBay listing: two sentences, I/O shield and screws included ⚡ Resistance checks on the main rails, then 110 mA in standby and no reaction to the power button 🔥 Thermal camera: a 5-pin LDO regulator at 95°C, its output almost a dead short to ground 🗺️ No boardview for this board, so I use the B550 Aorus Elite AX one to identify the AP7365 and the 3VDUAL line 🛠️ Checked the feedback divider and replaced the regulator from an X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WiFi donor board 🔋 Dead CMOS battery, and still no 3.3V: the short is on the SIO, not the regulator 🛠️ Replaced the Super I/O chip under the microscope ✅ 2.3 kΩ on the output, 3.3V on the SIO, POST screen: the board is back to life 🛠️ TOOLS I USE ON THE BENCH All tools featured in this repair are in my Amazon storefront (affiliate links): https://www.amazon.com/shop/fixthepixel ⚖️ DISCLAIMERS & DISCLOSURES FixThePixel assumes no liability for damage or injury from information in this video.
