Static Downfall - Shield (Take Cover) (Official Lyric Video)

Static Downfall - Shield (Take Cover) A song about standing between someone you love and everything that’s coming for them, no matter the cost. Fast, aggressive guitars, an anthemic chorus, and gang chants built for shouting along. If you’ve ever been someone’s shield, or needed one, this one’s for you. 2000s post-hardcore / emo / melodic metalcore with anthemic choruses and emotional vocals. Shield (Take Cover) - Lyrics [Verse 1] Street lights flicker on the walk back home Another grim night you’re facing it alone I can see the weight you’re hiding in your eyes You wear the perfect smile, but I can read the lies Every scar's a nightmare you won’t explain Every fear’s a storm you drag through the rain You don’t have to carry it by yourself I’m standing here, I won’t be anyone else [Pre-Chorus] So go ahead, and take cover Before they spot you and discover The dark truth behind the life you lead And leave you face down in the dirt to bleed [Chorus] I’ll be your shield in the darkness of night I’ll be your weapon for the endless fight So please just trust me until the very end I will break... before I ever let you bend [Verse 2] They’ll come for you with every kind of lie Throw their stones and never ask you why But they’ll have to go through me first I’ve bled before, I’ll take the worst Broken and bruised but still on my feet I won’t go down, I won’t accept defeat Louder than the doubt inside your head I’d rather bleed than see you break instead [Pre-Chorus] So go ahead, and take cover Before they spot you and discover The dark truth behind the life you lead And leave you face down in the dirt to bleed [Chorus] I’ll be your shield in the darkness of night I’ll be your weapon for the endless fight So please just trust me until the very end I will break... before I ever let you bend [Bridge] And if I fail, then let me fall Just promise me you’ll stand up tall Say my name when the dust has cleared Just live, just live, there’s nothing else left to fear [Final Chorus] I’ll be your shield in the darkness of night I’ll be your weapon for the endless fight So please just trust me until the very end I will break... before I ever let you bend [Outro] Hey! Hey! Shield in the night! Weapon for the fight! Hey! Hey! Even if I break, I promise it won't be the end I will break before I ever let you bend
