My Dad Is 60 and Still Working — Today, I Brought Him Lunch

I thought I was just bringing my dad lunch. I never expected the trip to help me understand why, even at 60, he so rarely gets to rest. Today, I cook a homemade meal and cycle to the market where my dad works as a security guard. Along the way, my bicycle chain suddenly comes off, and all I can think about is fixing it quickly enough to get his lunch there before it goes cold. We sit down to share a simple meal before he returns to work. Watching him look after the market, sweep, and make his rounds helps me understand the working days I had only heard him talk about before.
