I Covered the Best Part of This Painting… Then Scraped It Back

Watch a textured abstract painting develop layer by layer, from modelling paste and raw texture to a weathered copper and blue patina finish. In this painting process, I build raised areas with modelling paste before gradually adding acrylic colour, metallic tones and distressed layers. Parts are covered, scraped back and revealed again, allowing traces of the earlier layers to remain visible beneath the finished surface. The combination of copper, turquoise blue, charcoal and aged neutral tones creates a worn, almost weathered effect, while the raised texture catches the light and gives the painting additional depth.
