Dear Friends, I want to share a very special album with you, coming to you as a live performance captured while watching the sunset in Vrindavan. Presenting Raag Shree, a special Sandhiprakash (Sandhya or twilight) Raaga. Shree is said to be a sunset Raaga, most potent during the last setting rays of the sun, as the sky begins to turn red. It was a special and surreal experience to sing at the beautiful Kusum Sarovar in Vrindavan, watching the sun dip lower and lower as the Raaga unfolded. One of the historic sites of Vrindavan, the architecture at Kusum Sarovar was built from sandstone in 1764 by Maharaja Jawahar Singh in honor of his mother and father. Braj legends hold that this is where Sri Radharani would come to meet and dance with Sri Krishna, and glam her hair with her friends, particularly Kusum Sakhi, after whom the Sarovar is named. Amidst all this lore, sitting and experiencing the Raaga at its most potent time, in such a beautiful and historic place, was both powerful and blissful. I felt my voice connecting with the energy of the twilight as I sang, and certainly felt the echoes of love left behind.
