Honda V65 Magna VF1100C (1983) — Full Restoration in 4K PART I — Teardown & Rebuild Goal: Extract from the worn remnants of a rusted heap a show‑quality daily driver — a complete, functional, high‑performance motorcycle refreshed down to every last bolt, screw, washer, O‑ring, seal, diaphragm, hose, line, bracket, and component. The end result should be clean enough for a show, but reliable enough to ride every day. This project spanned 437 days, with 310.0 hours logged on the timecard. I don’t work fast — and filming makes everything twice as slow — but hey, at least it’s done at half the speed. Ahem. Engine internals measured out healthy, so only exterior maintenance was performed. 🔧 Starter Issue (and Fix) The starter would intermittently fail to engage — most of the time it worked fine, but occasionally it would just… not. The starter was removed and disassembled to clean carbon dust from the brush contact area. After the rebuild, it has performed with a 100% success rate. Correct wiring with a relay is crucial — factory harness wiring will never feed a horn enough power to make it really work.
