You are somewhere between a half inch and a full inch taller lying down than you are standing up. That inch isn't lost to age, and it isn't lost to tightness. It's the price of holding yourself vertical all day.
This hour begins on the floor, where the spine can be its full length without paying for it. We articulate slowly through flexion and extension on hands and knees, carry that length into bridge and a figure-four single-leg lift, and let the hip sockets rotate open with the femur working as the lever rather than the target. Then the practice stands up — lunges, crescent, Triangle, Warrior II, and the real question arrives: can the torso stay expanded once gravity starts charging for it again? The nervous system reads a wide, unbraced torso as safety, and settles accordingly.
This is an at-home practice for introverts, precision over exertion, interiority over intensity.
Woven through the movement is a story from a village glass studio: two apprentices with opposite instincts, one vessel that has to hold everything, and a long night of cooling that decides which instinct was right. What the cooling reveals, I'll leave for you to find.
Stay a while. Breathe fully. If it resonates, subscribe and keep exploring your inner landscape with us.
