Created by Mitchell Kriegman, the show starred Melissa Joan Hart as Clarissa Darling, a sharp, pop-culture-savvy teenager who broke the fourth wall to explain her life directly to the audience: a format influenced by Ferris Bueller's Day Off that was revolutionary for children's television. Clarissa was one of the first shows on Nickelodeon to feature a solo female lead, paving the way for future shows aimed at young girls. The series also starred Sean O'Neal as Sam Anders, Jason Zimbler as Ferguson Darling, Joe O'Connor as Marshall Darling, and Elizabeth Hess as Janet Darling. Mitchell Kriegman also published Things I Can't Explain (2015), a novel continuing Clarissa's story into her twenties. #ClarissaExplainsItAll #Nickelodeon #SplatAttack #SplatAttackPodcast #MitchellKriegman #MelissaJoanHart #NickelodeonInterview #90sNickelodeon #90sNostalgia #ClarissaDarling #BehindTheScenes #NickelodeonHistory #SNICK #NickStars #90sKidsTV #WritersRoom #NickelodeonSitcom #FemaleLead #90sTV
