Charles “Tex” Watson is one of the most infamous names in the Manson Family saga, yet his role is often overshadowed by that of his leader, Charles Manson. It was Watson, not Manson, who delivered the fatal blows to the seven victims of the Tate-LaBianca murders. At Cielo Drive, he was the one who shot Steven Parent, shot and stabbed Jay Sebring, stabbed Abigail Folger and Wojciech Frykowski to death, and delivered the gruesome wounds that ended Sharon Tate’s life and that of her unborn child. The following night, at the LaBianca home, Watson once again led the slaughter, inflicting death with chilling efficiency. Two weeks later, ‘Tex’ helped kill another man with several male members of the Manson Family.
In this episode, we examine the life of Charles “Tex” Watson—the man who turned from a small-town golden boy into a cold-blooded killer. How does he reconcile his violent past with his current image as a forgiven soul? And should society view his redemption with skepticism, or is there truly a path to salvation for someone responsible for such heinous acts, someone who told his victims that he was the Devil itself?
