From the Loess Plateau to the East African Plateau: A Link Across the Belt and Road Initiative

For over 15 years, Professor Xiong Youcai, an agroecologist at #LanzhouUniversity, has promoted ridge-and-mulch farming techniques on the East African Plateau. His team overcame numerous challenges, helping China’s dryland agriculture methods gradually take root and significantly boost crop yields in drought-prone areas. Through years of field trials and research, they collaborated closely with local experts, built lasting friendships, and laid the groundwork for ongoing agricultural innovation and international cooperation. #GlobaLZU #LZUresearch #StudyatLZU #兰州大学 #InternationalStudents #StudyinChina #StudyAbroad #ChinaAfrica #DrylandFarming #Kenya #KenyaAgriculture
