In this Tool Talks series, Lil Grizz, the legendary hat maker, is demonstrating blocking which is the first step in making a Pistolero style cowboy hat. (The Pistolero is a narrow brimmed Buckaroo or Gus Crease cowboy hat that was common in the early years of cowboying.) He uses only traditional non-mechanized techniques of hat making.
