Want to work in Germany but don’t have a job offer yet? The Germany Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) gives eligible non-EU professionals a pathway to enter Germany and search for qualified employment. ELIGIBILITY AT A GLANCE: There are two main routes: Option 1 Direct Eligibility A recognised German or foreign qualification can allow you to qualify as a skilled worker without using the points system. Option 2 Points-Based Route If your qualification is not recognised in Germany, you may qualify through the points system, provided you meet the applicable requirements and score at least 6 points. Points can be awarded for factors including qualification, professional experience, language skills, age and previous connections to Germany. WHAT CAN YOU DO IN GERMANY? The Opportunity Card is initially issued for up to 12 months for job searching. During this period, holders can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week and can undertake job trials of up to two weeks per employer, subject to the applicable conditions.
