Corrupt Cops, Loneliest Airport in the World & a Beach Full of Seaweed on Kenya's Coast 🇰🇪

Watamu and Malindi are supposed to be two of Kenya's beautiful coastal destinations — but our visit didn't exactly go according to plan. 🇰🇪 After arriving in Watamu, we discover a beach almost completely covered in seaweed, a hotel that feels like a major downgrade after some of the incredible luxury safari lodges we've stayed in, and a deserted stretch of coastline where we're practically the only tourists around. Then things get even more interesting on the road to Malindi. Our driver explains what he says is a common problem for local drivers: police stops and demands for small bribes. We find out how much drivers may be expected to pay, how often it happens, and whether having a camera pointed at the police makes a difference. And then we arrive at Malindi International Airport — one of the strangest airports I've ever visited. There is almost nobody in the terminal. No crowds. No security line. Barely any passengers. It's so quiet that it feels like we have the entire international airport to ourselves. This is a very different side of the Kenyan coast — the good, the bad and the bizarre.
