Autumn Has Arrived in the English Countryside | Cotswolds 4K Walk

I came to Miserden on a quiet October morning, not quite knowing what I would find beyond its little village streets. And what I discovered was a place with two very different sides. Join me for a peaceful Cotswolds Walk in 4K through Miserden, a beautiful and lesser-known village tucked away in the Gloucestershire countryside, filmed early in the morning before the world wakes up. Our walk begins near the village school, following the quiet streets past the War Memorial and the historic Church of St Andrew. From there, we reach the heart of Miserden, where traditional Cotswold stone cottages, an old village pub, a red telephone box and a magnificent ancient tree create a scene that feels wonderfully English. But Miserden is much more than a pretty village. Originally known as Greenhampstead, it was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The village later took its name from the Musard family, Norman landowners who held the manor after the Norman Conquest. A castle once stood here in medieval times, and St Andrew's Church still carries traces of the village's long history. Beyond the village centre, the atmosphere begins to change. We leave the stone cottages and quiet streets behind, heading towards the gardens and the greener, more secluded part of Miserden. Here, woodland paths, mature trees and peaceful parkland reveal a completely different side of the English countryside. And perhaps that was my favourite part of this morning — how naturally the village gave way to nature. No busy tourist attractions. No crowds. Just an ordinary Saturday morning in a small English village, with autumn slowly settling over the Cotswolds. Miserden may not be one of the famous names people search for when planning a trip to the Cotswolds.
