Driver Insists the Cop Is Wrong — Then Gets Arrested for DUI

A routine speeding stop quickly became much more complicated when a deputy said he saw a passenger jump out of the vehicle and run into a nearby house — something both the driver and her boyfriend initially denied. The driver, Laura, was stopped after allegedly traveling 61 MPH in a 45 MPH zone. During the investigation, officers began questioning her about where she lived, her out-of-state driver’s license, and whether she had been drinking. Laura admitted to having two drinks after work but declined to perform field sobriety exercises. She was ultimately arrested on suspicion of DUI and a Florida non-resident driver’s license violation. After initially refusing a breath test, Laura agreed to provide samples, which reportedly registered .115 and .113. According to court records, Laura later pleaded no contest to driving under the influence. The driver’s license charge was dropped by prosecutors.
