In this video you will learn what each device does, what it protects against, and where to use it, in simple language. 🔌 1. ISOLATOR A manual switch used to disconnect a circuit so maintenance can be done safely. It gives NO protection against overload, short circuit or leakage, and is normally operated when the load is off. ⚡ 2. MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) Switches off the circuit automatically on overload and short circuit. Used for lower current ratings (typically up to 125A) in homes, shops and small panels. It does not protect against earth leakage. 🏭 3. MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) Used when the load current is higher than an MCB can handle (typically up to 1600A). Protects against overload and short circuit, and also works as a switch. Many MCCBs have adjustable trip settings. Common in industries, commercial buildings and main distribution panels. 🛡 4. RCCB (Residual Current Circuit Breaker) Trips when current leaks to earth, for example through a human body, which shows up as an imbalance between phase and neutral current. A 30mA RCCB is used for protection against electric shock. It does NOT protect against overload or short circuit, so always install it with an MCB. ⚠ 5. ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) The older type of earth leakage protection (voltage-operated). It has been largely replaced by the current-sensing RCCB, which is more reliable. Today, when people say "ELCB", they usually mean RCCB. 🔍 6. RCD (Residual Current Device) Not a separate device but a general term for any device that detects leakage (residual) current and trips. RCCB and RCBO are both types of RCD. ✅ 7. RCBO MCB + RCCB in one device. Protects against overload, short circuit AND earth leakage. It saves panel space and trips only the faulty circuit. ⚙ 8. MPCB (Motor Protection Circuit Breaker) Designed specially for electric motors. Gives adjustable overload protection, short circuit protection and phase loss (single phasing) protection, and can also switch the motor ON/OFF manually. 📊 QUICK COMPARISON Isolator → Overload ❌ | Short circuit ❌ | Earth leakage ❌ MCB → Overload ✅ | Short circuit ✅ | Earth leakage ❌ MCCB → Overload ✅ | Short circuit ✅ | Earth leakage ❌ (optional add-on) RCCB / ELCB → Overload ❌ | Short circuit ❌ | Earth leakage ✅ RCBO → Overload ✅ | Short circuit ✅ | Earth leakage ✅ MPCB → Overload ✅ | Short circuit ✅ | Phase loss ✅ (motors only) Agar aap Electrical Automation field mein job ke liye prepare kar rahe hain, toh ye video aapke interview preparation aur technical knowledge ko improve karne mein helpful ho sakti hai. 📲 Download Electrical Dost app: https://electricaldost.com/workshop/A... 📚 Best Book to Learn Panel Wiring: Hindi Book: https://amzn.to/3CORwIq English Book: https://amzn.to/3CZy7Vf 📞 Call/WhatsApp: 8690045999 ⏰ Timing: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM 📧 Email: support@electricaldost.com #mcb #mccb #rccb #rcbo #mpcb #elcb #isolator #electricalengineering #circuitbreaker #rcd #electricalprotection #electricalpanels #electricalinterviewquestions #electricalinhindi #electricaldost
