Panchayat Polls in Ladakh, Demand for Panchayat Elections in J&K | Congress on NC & Omar Abdullah

After the decision to hold Panchayat polls in Ladakh, the demand for Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir has also intensified. After the Ladakh administration announced Panchayat polls, political parties in J&K are questioning the government as to why elections are not being held here... Importantly, now even the government's ally Congress has raised this demand. Congress Working President Raman Bhalla said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah must accept that the real strength of democracy lies at the grassroots level and the Panchayati Raj system is very important for J&K... Raman Bhalla demanded that Panchayat elections be held in Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible so that people in villages get their due rights. Panchayat elections in J&K are already delayed — the last term ended in January 2024.
