Nolan Is Trying to Show You Something | TENET

TENET is considered one of Christopher Nolan's weakest films. It is also one of his most precisely constructed. This essay argues that the clumsiness you feel watching it is not a flaw. It is structural. Nolan built the entire film around a 2,000-year-old palindrome called the Sator Square, and once you see it, the movie becomes a different object entirely.
